Description
King Nebuchadnezzar sits on his Babylonian throne, arm extended in a sharp command as attendants and court officials stand before him. His royal garments, ornate headpiece, elevated seat, and palace drapery emphasize the authority of Babylon’s court, while his urgent gesture captures the moment of an uncompromising royal decree. The scene reflects Daniel 2, when Nebuchadnezzar demanded that the wise men of Babylon not only interpret his troubling dream, but also reveal the dream itself. Their inability exposed the limits of human wisdom before the hidden counsel of God. In the biblical account, this crisis becomes the setting for Daniel’s prayer, divine revelation, and faithful witness before a pagan empire. The artwork is suited for teaching on Daniel, God’s sovereignty over kings, prayer under pressure, and the contrast between worldly power and heavenly wisdom.
