The Plague of Hail in Egypt

Moses stands above the city of Egypt with his arm raised toward a storm-split sky as hail and lightning descend across the land. Palm trees bend under the violence of the tempest, buildings and fields are struck, and Egyptians flee or fall beneath the judgment. The palace columns, distant pyramids, and Nile-side setting place the scene firmly in Pharaoh’s Egypt during the Exodus narrative.

The artwork portrays the seventh plague, when the Lord commanded Moses to stretch out his hand toward heaven and hail fell upon man, beast, and every herb of the field.
