1 느밧의 아들 여로보암왕 18년에 아비얌이 유대왕위에 올랐다.2 그가 예루살렘에서 다스린 기간은 3년밖에 되지 않았다. 왕의 어머니는 압살롬의 딸인 마아가였다.3 그런데 왕은 자기의 부친을 본받아 모든 일에 같은 죄를 지었다. 왕의 선조 다윗은 여호와하나님께 신실하였으나 아비얌왕은 전혀 신실하지 못하였다.4 그러나 다윗의 하나님여호와께서는 다윗을 보아서 예루살렘에서 아비얌의 뒤를 이어 불씨를 지킬 사람을 주셨다. 그의 뒤를 이을 아들을 일으켜 예루살렘을 거룩한 도성으로서 보전시키셨던것이다.5 다윗은 헷사람 우리야사건을 제외하고는 일생동안 여호와께서 보시기에 곧바른 일만을 하였으며 여호와의 명령을 어기지 않았다.6 르호보암은 일생을 마칠 때까지 여로보암과 전쟁하였다.7 아비얌왕의 나머지 행적과 치적은 유대 왕조실록에 기록되여 있다. 아비얌과 여로보암사이에도 전쟁이 있었다.8 아비얌이 렬조들과 함께 잠이 들어 다윗성에 매장되자 그의 아들 아사가 왕위를 계승하였다.9 이스라엘왕 여로보암 제20년에 아사가 유대왕위에 올라10 예루살렘에서 41년간 다스렸다. 그의 할머니는 압살롬의 딸인 마아가였다.11 그런데 아사는 조상 다윗을 본받아 여호와께서 보시기에 곧바른 일을 하였다.12 왕은 전국에서 남창들을 소멸하고 그의 선왕들이 만든 우상들을 없애버렸다.13 왕은 할머니 마아가가 아세라녀신에게 바치는 음탕한 짓을 지니고있다고 해서 대비의 자리에서 물러나게 하였다. 아사는 그것을 토막내여 깃으론 시내가에서 불살라버렸다.14 산당은 그대로 보존되였지만 그러나 아사는 일생동안 여호와께 한결같이 신실하였다.15 그는 자기의 부친과 자기자신이 거룩하게 바친 각종 금은집기들을 여호와의 전에 바쳤다.16 아사와 이스라엘왕 바아사는 그들이 살아있는 동안 계속 전쟁을 하였다.17 이스라엘왕 바아사는 유대를 침략하였다. 또 라마성을 튼튼하게 보수하여 유대왕 아사로 하여금 군대를 출동시키지 못하게 하였다.18 그러자 아사는 여호와의 왕실창고에 남아있던 은과 금을 모조리 거두어서 사신을 시켜 시리아왕에게 례물로 보내며 청을 넣었다. 당시 시리아는 헤시온의 손자이고 답으립몬의 아들인 벤하닷왕이 다스리고있었는데 다메섹을 수도로 정하고있었다.19 ≪나의 부친과 당신 부친사이에 맺으신 동맹은 나와 당신사이에도 그대로 살아있습니다. 나는 당신에게 은과 금을 례물로 보냅니다. 부디 이스라엘왕 바아사와 맺으신 동맹을 페기하시고 바아사로 하여금 우리 령토에서 물러가게 해주십시오.≫20 벤하닷은 아사왕의 청을 받아들여 군사령관들을 불러 이스라엘성읍들을 치게 하였다. 그는 이스라엘의 이욘, 단, 아벨벳마아가, 긴네렛 그리고 납달리 전지역을 짓부시였다.21 바아사왕은 이 소식을 듣자 라마성을 보수하다말고 디르사지방으로 철수하였다.22 이에 아사왕은 유대 전국에 총동원령을 선포하여 바아사가 라마성을 보수하는데 쓰던 돌과 목재를 옮겨다가 미스바와 베냐민지방의 게바를 견고한 요새로 만들게 하였다.23 아사의 나머지 행적, 치적 및 그가 축성한 성읍들에 관하여는 유대 왕조실록에 기록되여 있다. 왕은 나이가 많아지자 다리를 앓았다.24 아사는 렬조와 함께 잠들어 조상 다윗의 성에 있는 그의 왕실 묘지에 묻혔다. 그의 아들 여호사밧이 왕위를 계승하였다.25 여로보암의 아들 나답은 유대왕 아사 제2년에 이스라엘왕이 되여 2년간 다스렸다.26 그는 여호와의 눈에 거슬리는 일을 하였고 부친이 걸었던 악한 길을 그대로 걸었다. 그가 죄를 범함으로써 이스라엘전체가 같은 죄에 빠지게 되였다.27 잇사갈가문출신 아히야의 아들 바아사가 나답왕조에 반기를 들었다. 그는 이스라엘을 거느리고 불레셋령토인 깁브돈성을 포위하고있던 나답왕을 쳤다.28 바아사는 이렇게 나답을 죽이고 왕위를 빼앗아 스스로 왕이 되였는데 때는 유대왕 아사 제3년이였다.29 바아사는 왕이 되자마자 여로보암가문을 씨도 남기지 않고 몰살시켰다. 여호와께서 실로사람 아히야를 시켜 말씀하신것이 그대로 이루어진것이다.30 이 일은 여로보암이 스스로 죄를 지었을뿐아니라 이스라엘까지도 같은 죄에 빠지게 함으로써 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와의 분노를 샀기때문에 일어난것이다.31 나답의 나머지 행적과 치적은 이스라엘 왕조실록에 모두 기록되여있다.32 유대왕 아사와 이스라엘왕 바아사는 그들이 다스리는동안 전쟁을 계속하였다.33 유대왕 아사 제3년에 아히야의 아들 바아사가 디르사에서 이스라엘왕위에 올라 24년간 다스렸다.34 그도 여호와의 눈에 거슬리는 일을 하였고 여로보암왕이 걷던 길을 그대로 걸어 이스라엘을 같은 죄에 빠지게 하였다.
2 Chronicles 14
1 Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David. And Asa his son reigned in his place. In his days the land had rest for ten years.2 And Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of the LORD his God.3 He took away the foreign altars and the high places and broke down the pillars and cut down the Asherim4 and commanded Judah to seek the LORD, the God of their fathers, and to keep the law and the commandment.5 He also took out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the incense altars. And the kingdom had rest under him.6 He built fortified cities in Judah, for the land had rest. He had no war in those years, for the LORD gave him peace.7 And he said to Judah, “Let us build these cities and surround them with walls and towers, gates and bars. The land is still ours, because we have sought the LORD our God. We have sought him, and he has given us peace on every side.” So they built and prospered.8 And Asa had an army of 300,000 from Judah, armed with large shields and spears, and 280,000 men from Benjamin that carried shields and drew bows. All these were mighty men of valor.9 Zerah the Ethiopian came out against them with an army of a million men and 300 chariots, and came as far as Mareshah.10 And Asa went out to meet him, and they drew up their lines of battle in the Valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.11 And Asa cried to the LORD his God, “O LORD, there is none like you to help, between the mighty and the weak. Help us, O LORD our God, for we rely on you, and in your name we have come against this multitude. O LORD, you are our God; let not man prevail against you.”12 So the LORD defeated the Ethiopians before Asa and before Judah, and the Ethiopians fled.13 Asa and the people who were with him pursued them as far as Gerar, and the Ethiopians fell until none remained alive, for they were broken before the LORD and his army. The men of Judah carried away very much spoil.14 And they attacked all the cities around Gerar, for the fear of the LORD was upon them. They plundered all the cities, for there was much plunder in them.15 And they struck down the tents of those who had livestock and carried away sheep in abundance and camels. Then they returned to Jerusalem.
2 Chronicles 15
1 The Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded,2 and he went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: The LORD is with you while you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.3 For a long time Israel was without the true God, and without a teaching priest and without law,4 but when in their distress they turned to the LORD, the God of Israel, and sought him, he was found by them.5 In those times there was no peace to him who went out or to him who came in, for great disturbances afflicted all the inhabitants of the lands.6 They were broken in pieces. Nation was crushed by nation and city by city, for God troubled them with every sort of distress.7 But you, take courage! Do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded.”8 As soon as Asa heard these words, the prophecy of Azariah the son of Oded, he took courage and put away the detestable idols from all the land of Judah and Benjamin and from the cities that he had taken in the hill country of Ephraim, and he repaired the altar of the LORD that was in front of the vestibule of the house of the LORD.9 And he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and those from Ephraim, Manasseh, and Simeon who were residing with them, for great numbers had deserted to him from Israel when they saw that the LORD his God was with him.10 They were gathered at Jerusalem in the third month of the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa.11 They sacrificed to the LORD on that day from the spoil that they had brought 700 oxen and 7,000 sheep.12 And they entered into a covenant to seek the LORD, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and with all their soul,13 but that whoever would not seek the LORD, the God of Israel, should be put to death, whether young or old, man or woman.14 They swore an oath to the LORD with a loud voice and with shouting and with trumpets and with horns.15 And all Judah rejoiced over the oath, for they had sworn with all their heart and had sought him with their whole desire, and he was found by them, and the LORD gave them rest all around.16 Even Maacah, his mother, King Asa removed from being queen mother because she had made a detestable image for Asherah. Asa cut down her image, crushed it, and burned it at the brook Kidron.17 But the high places were not taken out of Israel. Nevertheless, the heart of Asa was wholly true all his days.18 And he brought into the house of God the sacred gifts of his father and his own sacred gifts, silver, and gold, and vessels.19 And there was no more war until the thirty-fifth year of the reign of Asa.
